Debby Friday is a self-described experimentalist and anomaly born in Nigeria, raised in Montreal and based in Vancouver. Her work spans the spectrum of the audiovisual, resisting categorizations of genre and artistic discipline. Friday is at once a sound theorist and musician, composer and performer, video artist, poet and punk god whose multi-disciplinary practice explores themes of ritual and feminine aggression, as well as discourses of power, forces of diaspora and the aesthetics of eroticism.

Friday got her start as a DJ, opening for acts including Mykki Blanco and Princess Nokia, while contributing mixes to NTS Radio and Noisey, and collaborating on tracks with Deli Girls, DJ Haram and Ouri. She released her first self-produced EP, Bitchpunk in 2018, followed by Death Drive on Deathbomb Arc in August this year. That sophomore EP features NON Worldwide’s Chino Amobi, and labelmate Lana Del Rabies and was written, produced and engineered by Friday herself. 3hd will be her debut live performance in Europe.

As of October 2019
