DJ Shahmaran

DJ Shahmaran is a Rotterdam-based artist and producer from the city’s queer scene who merges broken beats, deconstructed club, bass, and leftfield techno in their dynamic sets. Drawing inspiration from the Kurdish tale of a half-snake, half-woman with an uncompromising attitude, their sonic explorations embody the intersection of tradition and experimentation in electronic music. 

DJ Shahmaran’s pursuit of new sounds takes them from dusty record bins to online platforms, celebrating this duality of musical discovery. Supported by the United Identities label and SPIELRAUM, their sonic experiences bridge euphoric melodies, reminiscent of classic house and rave genres, with dark basslines and high-intensity percussive rhythms found in global club. They’ve performed at iconic venues and festivals, like De School, POING, Garage Noord, Down The Rabbit Hole, and Draaimolen.
