Emilie Palmelund works with sculpture, drawing and installations. The Berlin-based artist’s sculptures are influenced by pop culture and sci-fi, with their eerie, anthropomorphic appearance—like a weird coalescence of Masaaki Yuasa’s cute body horror, Mark Fisher’s hauntology, Ursula K. Le Guin’s world-building and Wong Kar-wai’s intimate story telling. While living in Stockholm, Emilie has been a part of organizing a yearly group show taking place on a frozen lake at uttran.org. Recently, she showed her piece “Laughing Sleeper” at the newly opened and acclaimed exhibition space, Accelerator, also in Stockholm.
