Julianne Lee

Julianne Lee is a Los Angeles-based perfumer, artist, and writer from Seoul by way of New England. Her practice is research-based and experimental, exploring the im/materiality of olfactory art using materials both natural and synthetic.

In addition to client work in fine fragrance formulation, Lee has presented original research challenging pervasive orientalism in the perfume industry, and collaborates with artists for cross-modal projects. She holds a B.A. in visual art and philosophy from Bennington College, and an International Technical Degree in Fragrance Creation and Sensory Evaluation from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. Lee teaches and serves on the board of the Institute for Art and Olfaction in Los Angeles.
