Montez Press Radio was founded in 2018 and broadcasts between 50-100 conversations, readings, and performances every month. With the goal of fostering greater experimentation and conversation between artists, writers, and thinkers through the medium of radio, this platform is an experiment in broadcasting and community building which allows different corners of the art and intellectual world to interact in person and on air at our performance space out of 46 Canal Street. Offering space and time to both the established and emerging or underrepresented, MPR strives to question current knowledge economies while doing its best to interrupt commercial means of communication. By providing access, support and cross-media exchanges to artists and thinkers who are engaging with emergent ideas, we invite artists into a dialogue that allows them to establish their own creative context and redefine cultural frameworks. Through our events and broadcasts, Montez offers artists tools, technology, editorial guidance and the means of distribution to effect change and build community.
