Oli XL is an experimental musician who has slowly become a key voice in the leftfield club sphere. Appearing in compilations such as PAN’s “Mono No Aware”, the Stockholm-based producer vastly expanded the world of his already distinguished sound with the release of his debut album “Rogue Intruder, Soul Enhancer” last year, to critical acclaim. With a dissected freehand approach to the rhythms of the UK rave continuum, fragmented sampling techniques are paired with personalized field recordings and processed vocals, resulting in a bizarre but emotionally-rich musical universe, recalling Basement Jaxx as much as humorless glitch. Oli XL has since then honed in on the album’s pop sensibility with a vocal-driven live show that has taken him around Europe, playing venues such as Tate Modern, while working on his second album, set for release early next year.
