Sylbee Kim (b. 1981. Lives and works in Berlin and Seoul) acquired B. A. at Korea National University of Arts, Seoul and Meisterschüler in media art at the University of the Arts Berlin. Kim employs digital videos combined with installations, digital and 3D prints and performances. Kim’s video installations appropriate historical records and iconography to produce a parallel reality that proposes possibilities of a future audiovisual language. Kim had solo exhibitions at Mélange Cologne, Hapjungjigu Seoul, Sindoh Art Space Seoul, Nevan Contempo Prague and Insa Art Space Seoul. Kim participated in group exhibitions held at Arko Art Center Seoul, Times Art Center Berlin, Kunstverein Göttingen, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, Naver Partner Square Gwnagju, SeMA Biennale: Mediacity Seoul and Neuer Berliner Kunstverein. Kim is an awardee of the 7th Sindoh Artist Support Program and was resident at Gasworks, London. Currently Kim is working on a new work commissioned by Gwangju Biennale 2020.
