Zülfukar Çetin is professor at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in the field of social work, and he also works at the University of Basel in the research project EUROPACH, where he researches on HIV/AIDS activism and politics in Turkey. In 2014/2015 he worked on his postdoctoral project “The Dynamics of the Queer Movement in Turkey before and during the conservative AKP government” as a Mercator IPC Fellow at the Science and Politics Foundation. Together with Savaş Taş he published the anthology Gespräche über Rassismus. Perspektive und Widerstand in 2015, and in 2016, together with Heinz-Jürgen Voß, he published the book Gay Visibility, Gay Identity: Critical Perspectives. His forthcoming oral history book Aids und HIV in der Türkei. Geschichten und Perspektiven einer emanzipatorischen Gesundheitspolitik (ed. with Peter Paul Bänziger) will be published by the Psychosozial Verlag.
