The 3hd Festival is launched by the event series Creamcake, which is an active curator of cultural events in Berlin. From December 2nd to 5th, 2015, new and hybrid projects that are usually confined to the virtual world will be presented to an ever-growing user base. The festival follows the theme “The Labor of Sound in a World of Debt.” It is devoted to musicians, artists, performers, academics, and journalists, who examine ‘the labor of sound’ today. Questioning both its cultural causes and its consequences, the contributing artists ask: “How it is possible that this ‘sound’ moves forward in a world where individuals and entire cultures live in ling outdated and obsolet systems?”
Alongside the events at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, OHM, Südblock, and Vierte Welt, 3hd Festival would like to offer its users an extensive online experience consisting of essays, interviews, websites and exclusive tracks. The goal is to reflect on innovative sounds, analyze international developments in contemporary music culture, and give artists a space to showcase their work. Therefore we will provide a program in order to include every user, IRL and URL. The concept of a label – magazine – festival; all in one. Thus the traditional festival themes and Internet music aesthetics transform into a festival 2.0.
