For “Voicing Resistance”, Farai, Lyra, and Abyss X joined by Maria Skoula, use their voices as instruments for effecting change and confrontation as part of 3hd 2017’s “Whatever You Thought, Think Again” programme. Performing at Berlin’s HAU Hebbel am Ufer (HAU2) on November 24 at 9pm, these three outstanding artists and collaborations respond to and resist contemporary systems of oppression by triggering their audience’s minds on an auditory and emotional level. This new wave of singers, lyrically engaged with social issues, articulate their concerns and offer critique in the powerful space where the personal meets the political.

This multiplicity of voices will explore their potential as a weapon and an activist practice, where expression and enunciation give form to contemporary realities, as well as possible futures. Most importantly they ask, “how can our music support a cause and help us support each other?” 3hd invites you to reflect on how what we say sing can create community and transform the world.
