Ewa Dziarnowska: This resting, patience (Étude)

As part of 3hd 2025: Care Circuit

According to pop psychology, there exists a network in the brain that collectively holds space for our feelings of empathy, compassion, and connection. These interrelated regions of the prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, insula, and amygdala, are stimulated through acts of support and compassion, both for others and for ourselves. 3hd’s “Care Circuit” performance evening at Haus der Visionäre explores this concept of (self-)compassion not only in the neurological sense, but as a collective, affective infrastructure for processing experience, regulating emotion, and forming new bonds through shared presence.

Ewa Dziarnowska revisits and extends material from her previous exploration of attraction, proximity, and the aesthetics of bareness, reconfiguring select elements into a spatial installation of expanded duration—an exercise, a practice, a study. In a process of rearticulation, the previously embodied scores that once functioned as somatic (strip)tease unfold anew, zoomed in and drawn out within a different temporal and collective framework. As the choreographic material is introduced to a new group of dancers, “This resting, patience (Étude)” establishes a dynamic that allows both for continuity and divergence: an endless interplay of soloist endeavour and communal effort.
