Krista Papista is a Berlin- and Athens-based artist, composer, and performer invested in the mythic, the bodily, and the ecstatic. Collaging Mediterranean mysticism with Tsiftetelli, experimental electronic music, site-specific performance and film, Papista’s work engages in developing and queering politically-induced, reinvented versions of history. Her latest album, Euro Divas, unfolds like a psychedelic journey from the ancient pink marble village of Salamina to the Armenian stars over Mount Ararat.
Through prayers and ceremonies for inhabiting many bodies, Cyclopean monsters, and diva goddesses, it dares to rewrite biography with luxurious audacity. Papista has presented work internationally at venues and festivals including Schinkel Pavillon, Boiler Room, Art Explora, Hyperreality, and Fusion Festival.
