DJ, producer and antidisciplinary artist MORENXXX, also known as Jesús Hilario Reyes is a true enigmatic force exalted from Chicago’s underground (now currently based in Brooklyn). Hilario-Reyes has garnered well-deserved attention after raving contributions to Honcho Campout, 4th World, Dweller, HÖR and many more. The dance floor and its participants is a centralized element within their practice; contextualized as a ‘devotional, site of becoming and unbecoming’. They’ve developed a feedback loop that sees queer underground nightlife as both the momentum and drive for much of their work both in and out of the confines of the dancefloor. MORENXXX’s hypnotic yet blisteringly fast sound ranges with rapturous percussion and ethereal intensity: weaving dynamic rhythms across trance, techno, house and playful vocalization that culminates into something entirely its own. Taking inspiration from mid-late 90s, and early 00s dance music MORENXXX blends the contemporary and the timeless with cyclonic fluidity, feeling both of the times and a product of what once was, as an ode to a queer temporality.
