Dafna Maimon is a Finnish-Israeli video and performance artist based in Berlin. Her cinematic and performative work explores small-scale communities that challenge stereotypical representations. It highlights the limitations of roles assigned in various social environments. A crew shooting a movie, her closest family, a group of artist friends, and a Bonobo tribe are exemplary groups that the artist uses to research contemporary conceptualizations of pain and happiness. Dafna holds a BA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and an MFA from The Sandberg Institute. She has shown her work in numerous international venues including PS1 Moma in New York City, Kunst-Werke in Berlin, Lilith Performance studio in Malmö, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and Project Native Informant in London.
