Raphaela Vogel unites different media and genres of art in a virtuosic way. The Nürnberg-born, Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist’s installations combine objects and sculptures with videos in which she often performs herself, sings or plays the piano. In doing so, she stages complex dramaturgies in space, in which narratives emerge between sculpturally laid-out media stations. One is confronted with these often exuberant, monumental works as if in a dream world: all the elements seem to belong together, but do not form a logical or linear narrative.

Vogel’s recent solo exhibitions include presentations at Le Confort Modern in Poitiers, France, Munich’s Haus der Kunst, Kunsthalle Basel, Goethe-Institut China and Motorenhalle in Dresden, among others. She has also participated in numerous international group shows at Berghain & Boros Foundation in Berlin, Hong Kong’s Tai Kwun Contemporary, Foundation Vincent van Gogh in Arles, Ludlow 38, New York, and many more. Two monographs have been published about Vogel’s work, and she has been the recipient of several scholarships and awards.
